The Life of Samuel
Text:
I Samuel 15:22-23
Samuel's "Sermon" on Law-keeping.
While Saul made a great show of religion, the main principle of his faith was convenience; he would not obey God where it conflicted with his own perceived interest. His confusion is not unusual. Many wish to mix religion and disobedience. Samuel makes it clear that this is no option. What matters to God is not that we give Him lip service, but that we listen to what He has said and obey. Our attitude towards His law actually reveals our attitude toward Him.
