I Samuel 15:1-9
Samuel Orders Saul to Be the Instrument of Divine Justice.
Perhaps the passages of Scripture which trouble us the most are those in which God orders Israel to wipe out an entire society. The problem here lies not with Israel, nor with Scripture, nor (certainly!) with God, but with us. We do not have a sufficient appreciation for the perfect justice of God. When we examine in detail, we see that God's actions were proper and measured, and we are reminded that He always carries through on every threat.
