I Samuel 12:1-24
Samuel's Sermon to the Nation
Having led the nation in reconfirming Saul as king, Samuel took the opportunity to call the nation back to God once again. He began by establishing his own moral authority to do so. With his own reputation intact, Samuel turned to the history of Israel, demonstrating that every good thing had come from God, in spite of Israel's repeated sin. When his audience cried out for mercy, though, Samuel reminded them of the covenant God had made with them, assuring them that they would not be abandoned by God.
