I Samuel 3:1-21
Samuel's First Conversation with God
Although God's justice hung over the heads of Eli's sons, He had no intention of abandoning His people entirely. Instead He called the child growing up in Eli's home to be His prophet. For Samuel, though, this was not an exciting lark, but a terrifying experience in which he heard the voice of God in the semi-darkness of the nighttime tabernacle, telling him of the horrible fate about to befall the family of the priest.
