Samuel is Given to the Priests

Hannah paid the vow she had made to the Lord, but she could not pay it immediately nor easily. Years passed before she was willing to travel to Shiloh again. Her song of praise teaches us how she had overcome horror at the thought of giving up her son. She had reflected much on the character of the God who had answered her prayers, and she found her peace in Him. In fact, she recognized that the same God who had overcome her earlier sorrow could both recompense her loss and heal the wounds of the whole nation.
