Text:
1 Timothy 6:2-5
Paul continues to urge Timothy to teach doctrine, and he evaluates those who disagree with the apostles.
One of the phrases most often misapplied out of context is "quarrels over words." Looking at the context, we see that Paul insists upon ministers being adament about doctrine, so a love of truth and hatred of falsehood are not what Paul has in mind with that phrase. Rather, it is his description of those who disagree with the apostles, with Christ, and with godly teaching. His solution? Teach the truth and urge the church to believe it.
