1 Timothy 5:17-18
The necessity and work of full time pastors.
The absolute necessity of teaching ability in the eldership can be misleading. While we would never want to see elders selected who had no gift or calling to teach, Paul does authorize the church to have some of its elders work full time. This is because there will be distinctions among any group of men in gifts, in labor, and in the honor due to them.
